I shouldn't admit it!

This is likely the last blog as I reflect on the process. The students did an incredible job. Our Comm program has an amazing reputation for undergraduate scholarship regionally (and I hope, soon, nationally). But, I leave the reader with this... As we were driving home on I-95, I needed to use the bathroom. And so... btw, you must be a frequent traveler on I-95 to sort of get this joke...

The Long Way Home!

We are home at last. The conference was a blast. We had a bit of spare time this morning, so we went to the beach! Back to class tomorrow!!

The last night

So Tonight is our last night in Wilmington, we had a blast and ate some really great food despite being rained in.....we didn't win the undergraduate award but we are really proud of being able to come to the conference and gain the experience all in all an AWESOME time!

Extending the Fun!

The conference is over. Cortnee' and Jennifer did Columbia College very, very proud! The weather, though, is terrible, we're all tired, so we're going to stay in Wilmington another night and drive back early tomorrow morning!

UNC-W Faculty Band

The band (all UNC-W Comm Department faculty) gave us some great selections including: "Sittin on the Dock of the Bay", "Heard It On the Grapevine", "Proud Mary", and many more!

Surf's Up!

Last night we had a blast at the Surf's Up! reception. Cortnee and I met some great students from UNC-Wilmington, College of Charleston and Coastal Carolina. There was great food (including fondu!) and we were entertained by an awesome band (made up of UNC-W faculty from the Comm Department!)

My First Panel!

For the first time in my college career I presented a research paper and I had a blast! My panel was a lot of fun and my fellow panelists also had great topics. Getting ready for some more sessions and then we have our closing banquet. See you soon CC!

Jennifer Rocked!

Fun times!

Had a good time at the reception last night. Ready to go for day 2. Jennifer presents her paper in about 30 minutes!

Ready for Tomorrow!

Today started out great with Cortnee doing an awesome job on her panel. We awoke bright and early to make it on time. Afterward, we both went to a panel titled "The Rhetoric of Barack Obama" which was really cool. The panel consisted of faculty and one grad student who all analyzed some form of rhetoric from Barack Obama from his speech at the 2004 DNC to his inaugural address. We are about to get ready for the Surf's Up poolside party. I finished my outline for tomorrow so I'm gonna get some early shut eye so I can be refresed for my panel (it's at 8am, yikes!)

Business Meeting Done!

As president of CCA, I chaired our business meeting and I think we made a lot of good changes for the organization. On to the reception!

Dr. Munsell responding to Cortnee's panel. Cortnee did an awesome job (way to go Cort!)

Cortnee's Presentation Rocked!

Cortnee' did a brilliant job. She worked very hard last night to revise some things, and it paid off. I was very, very impressed!!

Registration!

Cortnee' and Jennifer got all there registration stuff bright and early this morning. First students there!!

My First Panel Ever!

Last night I got my presentation together it took me until about 1:30 am! But the end result was amazing! I felt so proud to represent my school and my major! Jennifer and I simultaneously woke up at 6:44. But when we arrived not many people were in attendance at the panel because a lot of people are driving in today and not to mention my panel started at 8:30am.... However, after I presented our own Dr. Munsell had to respond and I was thrilled that he was impressed with my presentation. My presentation ran exactly 10 mins. and I am having a great time. Jenn and I just grabbed some muffins from Port City Java and now Jenn is working feverishly on typing her outline...I'll keep you guys updated!

First big day!

Cortnee presents her research this morning at 8:30am! I'm looking forward to it. I also get to orally respond to her research and the 4 other papers on that panel. Should be fun!

Jennifer and I have made it to Wilmington, N.C. and we're all settled, thanks to Dr. Munsell's superb driving skills we got here in record timing. We just got finished taking a stroll and grabbing some dinner at a local pub...tomorrow my presentation starts at 8am! Yikes and I still have to finish up some things for what I have to say at the panel tomorrow....I'll let you guys know how it goes.

Reading and Preparing!

I'm presenting one paper and responding to, well, 10. Reading lots of lots of papers and trying to create useful responses. We're off tomorrow at 1pm and we're all awfully excited.

Packing

The best part of going to conferences is the packing.... that's exactly what I'll be doing tonight.

Leaving Tomorrow!

Cortnee and Jennifer have been practicing their presentations and we're all excited to leave tomorrow for Wilmington!
